The Trotter
|
I've always had a thing about
horses, so I was thrilled when I caught sight of this
trotter training for harness racing in Northbridge,
and got permission from the owner to watch and take
photos. I drive around for hours hoping to find something
so exciting, not often with as much success. Doing
the painting later on was another one of those joyful
experiences. I hadn't drawn horses in quite a long
time, so the experience took me back to my childhood,
when I used to spend countless hours blissfully drawing
horses, studying their anatomy, making collages of
them, and reading about how to ride. An admirer of
this painting told me what he liked best was that
he could feel the heat of the day.
